Silence is Golden

Posted by Patrick Ryan

Your day is filled with work, kids, friends and the typical stuff we all experience that takes us away from your silent time. From the time you awaken you go at high speed to arrive at the television, a book or the pillow- only to start all over again the very next day.

In the silence of mind, spirit and body is found wisdom and thoughts that will carry your world to a new balance; a place of mindfulness; a place where freedom is found.

This week take the time to find silence in your world. Whether by meditation, relaxation or a place with no distractions; freeing your spirit will lead you balance in your life.

Walk Away

Posted by Patrick Ryan

Sudoku, a numbers puzzle that’s all about logic; 81 numbers with only a few “hints” filled in and many blank spaces- task: figuring out which numbers go where. I’ve been challenged by this game for many years and enjoy the more difficult puzzles, celebrating when I finally see the opening and am able to complete the solution.
Many times I’ll fill in the numbers that seem simple and look deeper into the other blank spaces with no thought of a solution… Putting down the book for a period of time, even days I’ll come back and see the numbers where the blank spaces once were. Solved!
When faced with a difficult decision where you could put off the solution, take the time to walk away from the problem, returning with a different perspective. Sometimes the answers are just a short walk away…

Anticipation

Posted by Patrick Ryan

So we’re looking for that raise at work or must to reprimand a fellow employee… Thinking about telling our neighbor how much we dislike that tree growing into our yard… Wanting to tell our spouse how we really feel… having that conversation with one of our very good friends but- are more concerned about how they’ll feel and response to our words than we are with our own feelings or needs!
Honestly, raise your hand if you NEVER experienced the anxiety of anticipation; fearing the outcome! Do we really need to get all worked up imagining how we’ll be received, awaiting the worst possible reaction? Are other people’s feelings more important than the life we are creating for ourselves?
In my experience I find the response is much lighter, less intense than my imagination anticipated. What would the world be like if we just spoke our true feelings with no expectations of the results / repercussions?

Avoiding the Obstacles

Posted by Patrick Ryan

As a golfer I am instructed to visualize the shot… imagine hitting the ball in a way that forces it to the place you want it to land, roll and stop. We can all agree that this is true in life as well- imagining where your life will land, run out and eventually end up.
And just like golf, there are obstacles that invariably stand in our way, sand traps, lakes, trees and out of bounds! Some obstacles we must hit over or around and others we are forced to play out of. And, just like life, if we focus on the obstacle we undoubtedly will play into it.
So when you’re standing on the “Tee of Life” preparing to take that shot over the water hazard, imagine landing in the middle of the fairway, rolling out and stopping in the short grass!

Followers Verses Teammates

Posted by Patrick Ryan

The connection between humans can be experienced in many ways, and appears most powerful on a passionate, strong emotional level. Some examples of this are the relationships between a leader and subordinates, parental, siblings, best friends and lovers.
People believe, listen and have a stronger connection to the people who show their humility, are vulnerable and respectful with others and reflect humanity in their life.
Self centered, boisterous obnoxious people attract weak followers; while the leaders who show their humility, vulnerability and reflect authenticity attract motivated and power teammates.

Small Steps

Posted by Patrick Ryan

Do you need to go skydiving, base jumping or kayak down a cat 5 river to get out of your box? It’s referred to as the comfort zone, becoming vulnerable, stretching oneself… with every journey we begin with the first step; so here’s my take on “getting out of the box.”
With that first step, getting out of one’s box can be something as simple as doing something you’ve never done before. It really doesn’t have to be an adrenaline bursting activity that scares the living daylights out of you!
However, let’s not overlook the need to grow. The first step out of the box could lead you on a journey that becomes an overpowering growth experience. So, what small steps will you take this week that gets you “out of your box?”

The “Eyes” Have It!

Careening down a steep and winding 1 ½ lane road, taking turns at exhilarating speeds, leaning the machine into and out of every, I’m reminded of the fact that my bicycle will go only where I focus my eyes.
Whether its work, raising a family, establishing a relationship or building a profitable business- success comes to those who stay focused on where you’re going! Keep your eyes on the road ahead…

How Powerful are YOU?

Posted by Patrick Ryan

Have you noticed how “things” seem to be getting bigger, faster, more powerful or stronger? A 30 story building in China constructed in 30 days; private company’s flying people into space; computers 100 times more powerful than the most recent release and half the size!
What is it about us humans that we take on huge challenges, sometimes so large that our imaginations simply can’t fathom the thought? When it becomes important enough, the most powerful engine, human emotion can overcome incredible odds when fueled with great passion!

Controlling the Outcome

Posted by Patrick Ryan

In speaking with a friend recently our discussion landed on the challenge of allowing the outcome to simple be what it is. Today’s world presents many obstacles on our journey of getting what we want. So what does it take to focus on the daily activity, doing our tasks overcoming these obstacles the best we can and releasing the desire to control the outcome?
You’re welcome to respond…

Carry the Soul of Others

Posted by Patrick Ryan

There are many people in the world we could hang out with, and like all things in life we have choices as to which ‘friends’ we’d like to spend our time.
It is believed that we carry a “piece” of the soul of everyone we meet; and we carry a larger piece of the souls we spend most of our time with. These people we chose to be with will forever influence our lives.
The way they think, speak and act will spill over into our subconscious and become part of who we are. So, if you were to make it a priority to only spend time with the people who matter most, what would life look like for you?
